Opening Scripture · King James Version

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”

— 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (KJV)

Before you begin, please prayerfully read through this page. Understanding the biblical foundation of spiritual gifts will help you steward what God reveals.

Purpose

Why This Assessment Exists

The purpose of this assessment is not to place limits on who God has called you to be, but to help you discover how He may have uniquely gifted you to serve the Body of Christ. It is a starting point for prayer, conversation with trusted leaders, and faithful service — not a final verdict on your calling.

Foundation

What Are Spiritual Gifts?

Spiritual gifts are graces given by God through the Holy Spirit to every believer in Jesus Christ. They are not natural talents or personality traits, though God often weaves them together. They are given to build up the Church, glorify Christ, and serve others in love.

"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."

1 Corinthians 12:7 (KJV)

Scripture identifies these graces across four primary passages — Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and the Scriptures on intercession — and they fall naturally into five categories.
